Dad insisted on posing with the grandkids crowded together on the floor. I told him that it was fine as long as he was able to get back up! He surprised me. Not a stumble at all! Everyone was dressed in Christmas pajamas which made bedtime even easier for them all.
We had put off family pictures for far too long (like 3 years too long). It just happened that Mom was planning to go the park with us on this day, so we took advantage of the beautiful weather! Mom felt great and everyone enjoyed the outing.
Both communities had Christmas festivities planned! We welcome the chance to connect with staff and other families. Dad's community had a "fancy dinner" that the kids seemed to enjoy. I took a ton of pictures as that's my "thing". Plus, it helps jog the memory!
Mom's community caters to our kids, much like Dad's. We tend to weasel our way in wherever we go! Ha! While I was out visiting and getting to know other families, my mom "baby-sat" the kids in her room. I imagine she misses the task of caring for the grandkids. I'm certain she slept well after we left though.
I am thankful that each parent is in a loving environment. The places fit each parent's needs perfectly. We've made friends with staff at the 2 communities. It gives me peace that my parents are being cared for and are safe. Our kids feel comfortable visiting and feel at ease with staff. That speaks volumes to my heart. Also, my mom and dad are minutes from our home. We see them weekly and drop off little "happies" to let them know they're on our minds even when we can't stop to visit. I welcome prayers for both parents. They are treasures to our family! We are looking forward to the blessings of 2019 and breathe a little easier with the miracles of 2018!
As for man, his days are like grass—
he blooms like a flower of the field;
when the wind has passed over, it vanishes,
and its place remembers it no more.
But from everlasting to everlasting
the loving devotion of the LORD extends to those who fear Him,
and His righteousness to their children’s children—
Psalm 103: 15-17
